The Purchase Analysis report shows what you bought of each product in a period: the HSN code, the units, the net amount and the average price. Use it to see where your buying money goes, product by product, or to check the average price you paid for a product.

Open the report

Press Alt+6 for Analytical Reports, then I. The report opens for the financial year from its first day to today, with one line for each product, in product name order.

Purchase Analysis from 01-04-2026 to 18-10-2026: a line for each product with its HSN code, units, net amount and average price, and a total of 26 products Each line is one product. Acephate 75 Sp 500 Gm was bought in 240 units for 1,24,800.00, an average of 520.00.

What it lists

One line for each product bought in the period. The report reads:

  • purchase bills, each on the day it was received (the Recd. date on the bill), as in Day to Day Purchases. Both the From and To days count.
  • the item lines of those bills with a quantity above zero. Charges are not items and are not counted.
  • goods received without a bill (Goods In / Out, 1 P): receipts for a purchase, dated in the period, whose units are not yet billed on the To date. Only the units not yet billed count, on the day they were received.

Purchase returns are not read, so the units and amounts are not reduced by them. A product has one line for each HSN code its lines carry, so a product bought under two HSN codes has two lines.

A received line with no Quoted price has its units counted and its amount is nil. The status line then says how many such lines there are.

How the figures are worked out

For each product, SimplyERP reads the item lines of the purchase bills received between From and To (both days counted), with a quantity above zero, and the goods received in the period that are not yet billed:

  • Units = the quantity on those lines, and the unbilled units of those receipts, added up.
  • Net amount = each line’s amount, added up. A bill line’s amount is its taxable value, after discounts and without GST, when the bill is from a supplier with a GSTIN. For any other supplier it is the billed amount, which includes GST. The amount of goods received without a bill is their unbilled units times the Quoted price on the receipt.
  • Avg. price = Net amount ÷ Units, shown to two decimals. The total line divides the total net amount by the total units. It is not an average of the product averages.

There is no GST or Tax choice, so the Net amount total can add up one supplier’s amount before GST and another’s amount with GST. Purchase returns are not taken off.

The totals line and the status line: Total · 26 products, 7,156 units, 50,42,672.00 and an average of 704.68, with the status 26 products, Units 7,156, Net amount 50,42,672.00 The totals line adds up the products; the status line repeats the count, the units and the net amount.

Open, mark, print and export

  • Enter on a product opens the Purchase Statement for that product, with the same period. It lists the product’s purchase lines. Alt+← returns to the list, with the cursor on that product.
  • F2 marks a product and F8 marks every product on the screen. When any are marked, F10 prints only those, and the print says Marked products only.
  • F10 prints the report as it is on the screen, under the title PURCHASE ANALYSIS. Its heading gives the period, the category and what you typed in Find. The print has the same columns with their own headings, and puts Avg.Price before Net Amount: S.No, HSN Code, P.No, Product Name, Pur.Qty, Avg.Price, Net Amount. A column hidden with Columns is left out of the print too.
  • F12 saves it as an Excel workbook.
  • Alt+Enter gives the whole window to the list.
